Volume Thirty-Five closes site seven, and it is about the moment a device stops being the thing you can get past. A drive that hangs every computer it touches. A card that heats in the reader. A machine that will not start at all. Between them sit the observations that decide what happens next — a light that only ever meant power, an estimate in months that was really a throughput measurement, a capacity figure the drive never got far enough to report, a beep that proves current is arriving rather than missing.
